Radiopilipinas is now the official online radio of Global Battle of the Bands Philippines 2011. GBOB is the biggest bands competition in the world which is being participated by over 30 countries every year. Last year’s grand finals was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was won by Dubtonic Kru, a reggae band from Jamaica.  The Philippines’ search for the country’s representative will take several qualifying heats in locations all over the country – Baguio, Manila, Lucena, Cebu and Davao. The grand finals will be on September and the winning band will compete on GBOB in England on November 2011.

The competition is open to all filipno bands – amateur or professional. They must perform an original (unreleased) song. Registration is now open. For more information of the contest rules as well as download a registration form please visit the the official GBOB Philippines website.

For updates you can listen to the GBOB Radio in UR105.9 (manila) every monday at 10pm. Or you can listen to Radiopilipinas every 1pm from mondays to fridays  or a recap on saturdays and sundays at 5pm.

Indie Love, a compilation album of  17 original love songs by independent Filipino artists is now available at major record bars all over the country. The CD was first released in February 2010 by INDIEPINOY and is being distributed thru GUSI Records.  The album contains songs from bands including Muffin, 2Days Ago, Dream Kitchen, Sensitivo, Arko, Insanara, JeffreYumol, Squeezers, Rain Mayo and a lot more. All of its songs are also available for download and as ringback tunes by texting INDIE to 3456 for smart and globe subscribers. Most of these songs are being played regularly at radiopilipinas.com.

In a recent official statement released by indiepinoy to the press, the music company reacts to a statement of Dingdong Avanzado, corporate secretary of Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit. Mr Avanzado cited during the press launch of  Kulturang Lahi Inuuna Ko (KLIK), local songwriters are not creating original filipino music these days due to  the domination of foreign music in media and music market.  Indiepinoy disagrees with the statement by showing  more than a thousand artists in its network actively recording, distributing and performing original filipino music in the part two years. The statement of Mr. Avanzado shows a myopic point of view of the music industry according to Indiepinoy.

“How can these leaders get the support from the Filipino artists if they do not even know the real situation and do not recognize the existence of a large number of independent Filipino artists in the music industry. ” Nolit Abanilla, Indiepinoy president explains in its official statement.”

“The major players in the music industry should regain the trust from the large community of Filipino artists. And for this to happen, they should address the real issues of providing support to the real Filipino artist, giving them venues for their songs to be heared to a broader audience via existing commercial media, providing them proven effective distribution channels and other major machineries in the music industry. Only then can they realize the participation of the Filipino artist in their programs of developing the music industry in the country.” the statement concludes addressing its concerns to OPM.

Indiepinoy launches October ROckGasm. Its is a whole month celebration of music and fun. with live performances of independent bands in your favourite bars. The event is a series of shows which features bands such as Muffin, Blue Martian Cookies, Sensitivo, Bluewish, Einstein Chakras, Creditcard Reasons, Kinetic Daze, Flytrapp, Sundown Caffeine, Tabass, Publico, Suicidal Genius, Popoyfield, Pinstriped Rebels, Jael Trio, Serefamus, Playphonics and a lot more.

The show kicks off in Ride and Roll Diner in Xavierville on the first day of October. This is followed by shows in Genre bar in cubao, CHeckpoint bar in paranaque, Headstock bar in Quezon Ave, Conspiracy Garden Cafe in Visayas ave. and Ten02 bar in Timog.

Sensitivo in its 3 years in the indie music industry has done it again. Sensitivo bagged the ”Most Outstanding Rock Alternative Group Award” in this year’s 12th Global Excellence Awards. Awards night will be on the 6th of October, 6PM at the The World Trade Center in Manila. The Honorable Sir Harry Thomas, The American Ambassador to the Philippines will be the one to honor the award to the band.

The GLOBAL EXCELLENCE AWARD (GEA) is a prestigious international tribute to world-
class consumer products and companies, as well as Outstanding Achievers in public service, entertainment and other major
professional fields regardless of nationalities worldwide.

Sensitivo is composed of Jyel Tagbo (Vocalist), John Frederick Siao (Lead guitarist), Emman Layug (Rhythm guitarist), Warren Oates (Bassist) and Kristine Abillar (Drummer).

We have recently finished coding the Radiopilipinas Facebook Application. Now you can listen to radiopilipinas even without leaving facebook. All you have to do is visit this link http://apps.facebook.com/radiopilipinas.  To comeback anytime check the Radiopilipinas Connect on your applications list from your account tab. Do click on profile beside the radiopilipinas connect to put a shortcut link on your main page for easier access.

We reccomend that you add the radiopilipinas connect as a tab on your profile page. To do this simply go to your profile, click on the + beside your wall – info – photos – and other tabs. Choose Radiopilipinas Connect. This way you can share with your friends the radiopilipinas application link.

With the facebook application you can listen to our live radio stream, view what is currently playing and what show is on and interact thru our meebo chat. We also suggest that you connect to us by commenting on this blog thru your facebook account (allow connection).  For full access to our site you may always want to visit our website at www.radiopilipinas.com.

We have recently updated the site with a picture of what show is currently playing. We have set the picture to run on our scheduled playlist. The picture is located beside the music player and the currently playing song indicator. If no show is on, the autodj picture will display. Please note that this playlist runs in synch with universal time code thus wherever you are in the world, the playlist will follow the +8000 timezone. After the success of his debut album “Please”, hiphop artist JeffreYumol is back with a sophomore full length album called “Snail Mail”. The new album set to be released on July 27 2010 contains products of collaborative works with several artists including Rain Mayo, Kuyakurt of the Blue Martian Cookies, and a lot more. The album is still released under Downorth Records with the distribution help of Indiepinoy.  A lot has developed since his last release, according to the artist who engineers, mix, and produces his own album. JeffreYumol who also won the grand prize at the GMA7′s songwriting contest for the TV show Diva, has created a lot of new materials from life experiences. He has also developed  the quality of recording, compositions and the whole packaging of himself as an artist in this new album.
